When we made the decision to leave our old life behind and move to Alaska, we were searching for more than just a home—we were looking for a place where we could build something special. When we first discovered this property, we were aware that it had been neglected for years and had earned a reputation among locals as “The Dump.” Unfortunately, the name was well deserved. Over the years, people have used the property as a place to abandon vehicles, dump car parts, discard trash, and leave behind all kinds of debris.

While many people saw only an eyesore, we saw something different. Beneath the mess was a beautiful property with incredible potential. We could see the charm of the house, the beauty of the surrounding landscape, and the opportunity to create a place where visitors could experience the best of Alaska.

Since purchasing the property, we have spent countless hours cleaning up, repairing, rebuilding, and improving both the house and the grounds. We’ve removed tons of trash, hauled away abandoned vehicles and scrap, and worked hard to transform the property into a welcoming retreat for our guests. While there is still work to be done, every improvement brings us closer to the vision we had when we first arrived.
